PCB maker Unitech saw its 2019 revenues surge 14.73% on year to a record high of NT$22.42 billion (US$749.89 million) on strong shipments of rigid-flex boards for AirPods 2, and stronger shipment momentum is expected to send its revenues hitting a new peak in 2020, according to industry sources. Thanks to Apple gearing up to boost its share of the TWS (true wireless stereo) headsets market with AirPods, Unitech’s revenue contribution ratio for rigid-flex boards shipments for the devices rose to over 50% in 2019, and the ratio may ramp up further in 2020 given the company’s clear order visibility for AirPods 2 throughout at least the first half of the year, the sources said.
